I've never liked any other fragrances from Marc Jacobs so I'm not sure why I thought I'd love this. This was always a scrubber perfume for me. Im so happy this worked for me and I can understand the hype around this. This is quickly becoming one of my favourites. the plum is there but it comes in waves. My mom loved it so, I gave it to her, an old edition, telling to keep the bottle when the juice will come to an end. This perfume is so delicious. I have received a free test tube of this. Why they discontinued this one?? Pickles? It has moderate sillage on me and good lasting power. its not candy sweet, & its not fruity. It's the only perfume that I re-bought 5 times! Just my luck I finally get to smell this beauty after it's been discontinued, and the best praise I can give it is to tell you I just spent a rather large chunk of cash on a full bottle because I couldn't stop thinking about it. A certain dry musk that doesn't do anything for me. it is extremely strong though and too much of it can definitely be too overpowering and mature smelling but overall its sillage is amazing and it lasts extremely long and is a perfect night out, gourmand fragrance. Something about it is a little nauseating. Most orders are delivered within 6-9 business days from the purchase date. It feels so sexy and feminine with the perfect balance of fruity floral spicy. The background becomes somewhat smoky and woody with an amber accord. It has a beautiful sweetness to it. of course it could just be how it reacts with my skin so if youre considering this dont let me put you off entirely because it could wear more pleasantly on your skin, but its definitely not a safe blind but at all. The only thing I dislike is the bottle itself, I don't like handbag design the decadence line comes in (much as I dislike the stiletto shape of Carolina Herrera's Good Girl line)- the scent is sophisticated but the bottle is prissy. DM me if interested and in the US. I checked Rebl Scents, Ross, Marshalls, then TJ Maxx, but it's already gone. Not this one, I really enjoy seeing it everyday. So deep and sweet with a vanilla dry down. I bought a bottle at TJ Maxx about 2 months ago. and then the dry down is where things really started to take a turn for me. Oh, what a journey. The scents are unique and last for a long time. (Although looking at the note breakdown I cant quite pin point what that is!) love you all xx <3. The middle notes are the best, kinda smells a bit like BR 540 cause of the woody saffron in my opinion. With that said I also had apprehensions - I don't have any plum fragrances, iris and I don't always agree and on that note neither do orris and I. My 2year old baby broke the bottle like one year ago and now I am super sad I didnt buy a new one immediately, because you cant get it anywhere now. I don't know if I got an old/bad sample but it smelled like root beer bottle caps candy. Those who labelled this tacky doesn't know what tacky is. Its also a bit green in a sweet, smooth and fruity way. I knew at first test that I had to buy this scent. I was always fond of the packaging. Aura is a sacred preserved rainforest (which I LOVE) while this is a synthetic wannabe fake forest. Highly recommend if you want something truly mature and complex. This is a guaranteed someone-will-buy-you-a-drink-at-the-bar choice, ladies! it smells so rich almost like honey. It smells a little bit like a sweet, spicy, wet cardboard box to me. Not old lady mature, but more like a chic 60 is the new 40 mature, that draws in the compliments. One sniff of this and it gets stuck in my nostrils and smells of pain. My "i can't tell perfumes apart" fiance thinks this is her favorite on me, and I always put it on for a night out if I feel like recieving compliments. I was super curious of this perfume & was about to blind buy it but I sprayed it at the store because I wasnt sure & have let it sit on my arm for like 4 hours now and I hate it! Luckily I only purchased a small decanter. But I got really into perfume and as my nose matured I fell head over heals with this. 100 ml is absent everywhere. Now I've always thought Decadence was strong, unpleasant and too mature based on the mixed reviews. At the bottom, I do smell the amber with a bit of papyrus and vetiver, but the fruity note still remains and overpowers the base notes. I managed to snag up a 100ml bottle and use a 10% coupon as well. WARNING - this is definitely NOT a safe blind buy - I adore it but I understand lots of people hate it as its not really a flowery or generic gourmand. This perfume smells like a woody perfume for A MAN! It smells so good. Decadence is also somewhat green, medicinal or herbal in the opening, but it doesnt last that long. On the drydown i get this caramel sweetness with a hint of plum. it lasts alll day, sillage is good, and settles down to be a skin scent after a few hours. Its horrible on me in my friends and on clothing. Thought Id love it. This is one of my all time favorite perfumes. This is truly intoxicating! on me it transforms into a sweet green, the scent is so hard to describe I can't even pinpoint notes. I like the BTF but its too strong for me. This perfume has the potential to induce headaches and nausea, so be careful about that. Let alone the wonderful bottle, I just love to look at it :). Plum and iris stand out in the opening to give way to a somewhat earthy, woody and powdery floral heart. The moment you walk in the door you are assaulted by the sickening aroma of maple syrup vape juice, a cloying waft from an empty rum raisin ice cream container crawling with many-legged insects, and the dusty fumes of your meanest ancestor's cherry pipe tobacco. This is the fragrance of a woman who knows what she wants in life. I agree it feels "edgy and mysterious," which was how I described Aura as well. A cut above all the other Marc Jacobs fragrances. I find it sweet but not fruity candy sweet, more like a dark chocolate sweet. That makes them ideal as gifts for people that are always taking trips away from home. Ha and this really taught me the lesson that fragrances smell different on other people and on me it smells like a musty old ladies wardrobe . Normally I store fragrances in their packages in order to keep them safe. What a disaster. As I see they are sadly discontinued. When I first received it, I found it unbalanced, too pungent and very spicy. Very overpowering and long lasting. I usually reach for this during the colder months or if Im going out at night. Great performance as well, on me this lasts for about 8 hours. When I got more into the frag world, I was shocked that Decadence was considered such a controversial scent. This scent is for the alluring woman; mysterious and, on occasion a bit sinister. The dark green color feels accurate as well, it's a pretty "green" scent. So a few days ago, i was aimlessly shopping at TJ Maxx and i was looking for BCBG MaxAzria by Max Azria because it wasn't available at the other locations and i found it, but i also came across Decadence by Marc Jacobs. The face of the campaign shot by Steven Meisel is Adriana Lima. Stay clear! This scent is only challenging, elderly (?!) Not necessarily a bad scent, but not something I want to smell like either. I might just be buying into the hype and/or reputation of this fragrance, but I wear this only when feeling slyly fearless. I definitely think a man will not appreciate this scent on a woman. Decadence is like wearing a green velvet lingerie with a long satin robe with furry sleeves - extremely sexy, embracing, sensual and warm. I get sweet but not cloying super gardenia/jasmine. This is a bit more spicy though. I love the sweet and sensual plum against the woody vetiver. and strong if you have no trained nose and are not familiar with niche scents or if you are green/young and into fresh scents or very mainstream sweet scents. Is not a bad perfume but I could never choose this as my signature fragrance, not my type of scent but I dont mind to have this in my collection, maybe one day Ill start using it, not something I will purchase again. Otherwise, it's a very lovely, sweet, sexy, deep and feminine scent. i cant tell you how awful of an experience trying this perfume was. It is heavy so wear and spray conservatively especially since its been discontinued :(. It definitely smells woody, green, with a sweet/fresh Berry like incense. Not for the dainty ladies. It is extremely fruity and boozy on me, but not in a good way. I love the cute fashionable bag idea of the bottle too. I am on the fence on this one. This is definitely one to have in your fragrance collection! I can see this being a date night frag or just a cuddle, lounge around frag. So it's not for everyone or for everyday wear, as it can be overwhelming. I felt like I was drowning in this heavy saffron plum. Yesterday I went to the Parfmerie and offered me nose because of the great reviews. The whole scent sweetens as it warms on my skin and could be headache inducing if overdone in the summer so a little caution is needed. My signature! I was so sure it would evolve. You conclude that while you did not experience anything in the slightest bit supernatural, this vile combination of notes will certainly haunt you for the rest of your days. Oh, and its definitely a winter perfume, in case I was not clear enough , although this perfume doesn't have any sweet notes like caramel/vanilla in my opinion it's still a very gourmand and sweet scent. This, Decadence, and Divine Decadance, smells like dill pickle to my nose; from the bottle and on my skin. I should've done a wear on my wrist. I've only tested it once so I'll edit my review once I've got a few more wears in. Its lovely. The best I could describe it is that it made the car smell like a late night uber car after having picked up multiple rounds of people from the club. I dont get the comments about heady longevity. This is still on the Marc Jacobs website, but it's definitely discontinued I think?? Performance is really good. Its lush and rich, with heavy plum that smells spiced and juicy, with floral notes joining in but not changing this to a floral-centered. But now that my nose has evolved and I now know better to test perfumes on my skin, I see why people think it has the same vibe as Aura. Its not that floral IMO, theres hints of jasmine here and there but i cant really smell it. It also has that dusty aroma maybe from the vetiver. Go-to scent when wearing leather jackets, it's the perfect match made in heaven. Quite lovely actually, slightly off the beaten path for a mainstream designer scent but still easy to understand. lol Enough said. The green notes in Aura is more prominent, strong, a little bit more fresh and overpowering while the green notes in Decadence is more earthy with a little bit sweet twist before it turns into a very prominent plum and saffron scent. Oddly enough, despite sharing only iris and rose in their makeup, Decadence reminds me of D&G's The Only One. If you like oudy scents, this is for you! like wear this if you want people to perceive you as like annoying, spoiled and mean - like thats the vibe it gives me! Wild vanilla orchid is similar. I love a broad range of fragrances so I think the note that turns my nose in this is the green one. I started my fragrance journey wearing Tom Ford Oud Wood. Decadence is one of those perfumes where I dont really pull individual notes as theyre blended masterfully, and the result is just an expensive-smelling juice. the commercial ad for this is perfect. My immediate impressions were that I ADORE the kitschy bottle (i love the act of moving the chain to the side before removing the cap to spray it) and this was 100% a luxurious, rich girl perfume that smelled absolutely incredible. We had a good chat about the power of artfully made fragrances in that regard. In the final hours on fulldry down there is an incense-y vibe I love, but the jasmine middle is soooo not me. I absolutely adore this perfume. It's not too strong for me but I do enjoy La Vie a Belle. I'm not a fan of heavy, syrupy fragrances, but the notes looked interesting to me. The bottle design, which is a "personal talisman of the designer as a symbol of opulence and glamour, is reminiscent of an emerald green handbag with python pattern, gold chain and black tassel. But this ? either way, its worth trying girl. Aura and this are sisters. They really managed to convey the smell of a successful business woman/lawyer etc, the smell of money and fine luxury goods. Anyway: kind of a nice cucumber opener. Strong silage and lasts for an eternity. I love the floral and smokey amber in this. It's SUCH an Oriental fragrance (think Shalimar) and really seems like the smell of "emerald green": rich and syrupy, almost cinnamony sweet -- maybe from the saffron? This scent is a rich green velvet just like the box the bottle comes in or maybe green silk. To my nose this is very similar to La Nuit Tresor by Lancome, very sirupy. Drydown lasts forever and I feel covered by sticky smell of male Lynx deo, that teenagers love that much. Ive had this for 18 months and Im still not sure what I think of it. Is it weird that i find this perfume yummy? . I tried again in the winter and I loved it. It definitely smells like a rich lady lol the woods in perfumes can sometimes give me old lady vibes bc they're so deep and intoxicating, but I actually don't mind the dry down of this and I always get compliments when I wear it. After 30 minutes the plum & jasmine come through beautifully! This is my night out perfume for weekends. the opening is almost identical to the way parma violets taste, which i cant stand but if theyre your thing then you might like this.
